Satuit Band Announces 95th Free South Shore Summer Concert Season

Satuit Band at Scituate Gazebo 2024 by McGrath PR

McGRATHPR.com – The Satuit Band celebrates its 95th season this summer performing its annual series of free community concerts throughout the South Shore. Founded in 1932, the Satuit Band is one of the region’s longest-running community music organizations, gathering volunteer musicians of all ages to perform a diverse repertoire of symphonic band music. The Satuit Band is led by long-time Music Director Charles A. Shaffer.

Satuit Band’s 2026 Summer Concert Series celebrates America’s 250th anniversary with a season-long musical journey through our nation’s rich artistic heritage. Every concert program features works by American composers and arrangers, showcasing the breadth and diversity of American music through patriotic favorites, Broadway classics, jazz-inspired selections, film scores, folk traditions, and landmark concert band compositions. These performances honor our nation’s history while highlighting the creativity and cultural influences that continue to shape American music today.

“As our nation commemorates the 250th anniversary of its founding, we are excited to present a season dedicated entirely to American music,” shares Shaffer. “From beloved patriotic selections to iconic works from the stage and screen, these concerts celebrate the voices, stories, and traditions that have defined our musical heritage. We are proud to continue our tradition of bringing communities together through free live performances that inspire, entertain, and connect audiences of all ages.”

The Satuit Band’s mission focuses on fostering musical excellence, community engagement, and lifelong learning through the performance of high-quality symphonic band repertoire. The ensemble welcomes 60+ volunteer musicians and performs throughout the South Shore each summer, reaching thousands of fans annually. All concerts are free and open to the public.

Contributions help fund concerts, music purchases, guest artists, and operational expenses, ensuring that live community music remains accessible to audiences throughout the South Shore.
