McGRATHPR.com – Americana Theatre Company (ATC), Plymouth’s professional theatre company, premieres the first production of “An Americana Christmas Carol,” a new original work, performing on select dates from December 10 through 18, at Plymouth Center for the Arts, 11 North Street, Plymouth. “An Americana Christmas Carol,” is written by ATC Co-Artistic Directors Derek Grant Martin and Jesse M. Sullivan, directed by Derek Grant Martin.
“We’ve always anticipated producing ‘A Christmas Carol,’ but visualized adding a uniquely Americana stamp on the classic. Born from a brainstorm between Jesse, myself and a few company members, we conceptualized combining the beauty and redemption themes from the original Christmas Carol story, combined as a mash up with the wild comedic farce elements of ‘Noises Off,’” shares Derek Grant Martin, playwright and ATC founder. “We hope our audiences enjoy Dickens’ original story’s key moments portrayed in our new work that they know and love, while embracing an original, lively spin for this new production debut.”
In ATC’s new work “An Americana Christmas Carol,” the show must go on! It’s opening night of “A Christmas Carol,” produced by formerly married couple Charles and Isabella Richardson, and everything has gone awry. Isabella is desperately trying to hold the production together, as Charles wreaks havoc on the cast while portraying the role of angry, cruel, and bitter Ebeneezer Scrooge – both onstage and off. Can the three ghosts of Christmas change his heart and save the production, his marriage, and Christmas as we know it? Take a seat and become enamored with a captivating 10-person cast in a wildly funny, poignant, and entrancing theatrical debut.
“An Americana Christmas Carol” features Jesse M. Sullivan as Charles Richardson, with ATC company members David Friday, Erin Friday, Connor Northcutt, Jesse Winton, Kelly Ann Dunn, and Payton Gobeille also among the cast.
“An Americana Christmas Carol” performances are held on December 10, 11, and 13 through 18, at 7 pm, with 2 pm matinee performances on December 11 and 18. Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for students and seniors. The show content is appropriate for all ages and runs about 90 minutes.
