McGRATHPR.com – The James Library & Center for the Arts, Norwell’s historic community arts center and lending library, presents Weekend Classics Encore: Pianist Eleanor Perrone in concert on Sunday, April 7, 3 pm, 24 West Street, Norwell. Dynamic and versatile pianist Eleanor Perrone has captivated audiences at home and abroad with her imaginative programming and depth of artistry. From grand concert halls to community centers, Ms. Perrone is deeply committed to the visceral experience of live performance. Concerts of her extensive repertoire have consistently elicited rousing standing ovations, and her ability to communicate intensity or intimacy is as extraordinary as the music itself. The Boston Globe states, “Perrone is a pianist who makes you listen.”
As soloist with the Boston Pops under Harry Ellis Dickson in Symphony Hall, she brought the audience to its feet and was invited back for several performances. A concert tour in Brazil brought her to São Paolo and Campinas, where she performed Ravel’s Concerto in G with Benito Juarez of the Orquestra Sinfonica de Campinas, as well as giving solo recitals and master classes at Unicamp and City University of São Paolo, amongst other concerto engagements.
Her solo repertoire ranges from Scarlatti and Bach to the present, and includes such works as Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, Brahms’ Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Striving for balance of old and new in her programming, she has incuded 20th century solo works by Barber, Foss, Hartke, Persichetti, Shapero, Stravinsky, and Wyner, and chamber works by Jalbert, Pann, Shoenfield, and Wolfgang. Perrone enjoys speaking to the audience about her programs as a way of drawing in the audience and breaking down some of the barriers in classical music between artist and audience.
Trained at the Juilliard School and Boston University, she holds a Master of Music degree from Boston University and has studied with Patricia Zander, Anthony di Bonaventura, Bela Boszormenyi-Nagy, and Leonard Eisner. Former piano faculty of the Longy School of Music of Bard College in Cambridge, MA, Perrone also served as Associate Chair and Chair of piano in their Community Programs division from 2005-2010. She is on the piano faculty of the Rivers School Conservatory, Weston, and maintains a private studio in Watertown.
