McGRATHPR.com – South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) celebrates its fourteenth season of chamber concert performances, from Sunday, July 14 through Friday, July 26, with nine chamber concerts in total.
The first concert is the Festival Overture Concert on Sunday, July 14, with an alfresco reception starting at 6 pm. The concert begins at 7 pm at South Shore Conservatory’s Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George Street, Duxbury. The Festival Overture Concert highlights the return of founding DMF faculty member and famed pianist Oxana Yablonskaya, performing solo and chamber repertoire. It also features a piano trio by a Kiev born, American-Maltese Ph.D. mathematician, a suite for string orchestra by Norway’s supreme romantic composer, and a piano trio by the Argentinian master of the tango-nuevo. The Overture Concert is sponsored by Wendy and Vince Spiziri.
On Tuesday, July 16, guests will enjoy a DMF Faculty Concert in a private home with music by composers Mozart, Shostakovich, and Turina, performed by DMF string faculty and students. This event is sponsored by Marty and David Fuchs.
Sunday in the Park is a treasured tradition that continues this year under the tent at the Duxbury Town Green on July 21 at 5 pm. It features DMF faculty and students in recital. Concertgoers are invited to bring their own picnic basket, enjoy wine concessions, and listen to world-class chamber music. Sunday in the Park is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by Morgan and Greg Lamarche in loving memory of Barbara Lamarche.
A second private home DMF Faculty Concert is on Monday, July 22, and pays tribute to classical composers Beethoven, Thomas, Gordon, Rachmaninoff, and Barber. This concert is sponsored by Barbara and Fred Clifford.
On Wednesday, July 24 at 7 pm, the Winners Concert offers a wonderful evening celebrating the talented 2019 DMF students, our next generation of outstanding musicians. The concert features the winners of the 2019 DMF solo and chamber competitions. This event is at the Ellison Center for the Arts, and includes a Duxbury Wine & Spirits wine tasting.
All That Jazz and Farewell Reception, sponsored by Lynn Dale and Frank Wisneski, is Friday, July 26, 7 pm, featuring pianist Oxana Yablonskaya and jazz ensemble The Elan Mehler Trio. This event is sponsored by Lynn Dale and Frank Wisneski.
In addition, DMF’s three student Festival Recitals are free and open to the public. They take place on Wednesday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 23 at 4:30 pm at Ellison Center for the Arts, and Thursday, July 25, 4 pm at The Village at Duxbury.
