Hybrid learning continues at SSC’s Hingham and Duxbury campuses
McGRATHPR.com – South Shore Conservatory (SSC) announces it is now enrolling for classes and private lessons on all instruments and voice for the 2021 spring semester. Spring semester starts Thursday, January 28, 2021. New students who enroll in private lessons receive their first lesson free.
With strict guidelines in place, SSC has been safely teaching using a hybrid model of in person and virtual learning since September 2020. This model has been met with high praise from the SSC community.
“I was pleased to find out that SSC offered hybrid learning – because I feel the connection between student and teacher is stronger when in person. However, with Zoom technology, we also have that choice to learn remotely, which is convenient for a flexible schedule. SSC has taken all the necessary precautions to create a learning environment that is safe and promotes social distancing, while still interacting face-to-face with your instructor,” said Laurie Igo of Marshfield, whose son studies drums at SSC.
Music Together Online, for children from birth to age four, continues through the spring, offering a joyful introduction to song, dance and rhythm. This new online version allows not only the caretaker, but also grandparents and other siblings to join the fun remotely. With rolling admissions, new families are invited to sign up at any time during the semester.
New students are invited to join the next session of SSC Youth Orchestra (SSCYO), a three-tiered ensemble program which meets and rehearses through spring semester, using a hybrid model. Under the guidance of Program Director/Symphony Conductor Elijah Langille, this sequential youth orchestra program provides opportunities for young musicians to perform symphonic music at a high level in a well-organized and supportive full orchestra program. Currently, SSCYO’s Symphony ensemble is scheduled to perform with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra in March of 2021.
SSC’s dance department continues its ballet and hip hop classes, successfully running at its Duxbury campus since September. These classes run concurrently in person and online, with appropriate distancing in the Ellison Center for the Arts’ performance hall.
Safety is SSC’s number one priority. With that in mind, the staff and faculty follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
