WICKEDLOCAL.com – The Massachusetts Nonprofit Network announced that the Hingham-based nonprofit South Shore Conservatory has been selected as a finalist for the 2020 Nonprofit Excellence Award in the Partnership category.

The winners of the Nonprofit Excellence Awards will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony, Nonprofit Awareness Day: A Celebration of Nonprofit Excellence, at 10 a.m. June 24. The awards ceremony is presented by Citizens Bank.

“We are thrilled to recognize the South Shore Conservatory for their invaluable contributions to the Commonwealth,” said Jim Klocke, CEO of MNN. “We look forward to recognizing these organizations and the other award finalists on Nonprofit Awareness Day on June 24.”

The ImagineARTS Residency partners with local school districts to strengthen pre-literacy skills among preschool and kindergarten students. It targets specific literacy skills such as sequencing, rhyming, and re-telling through weekly arts-integrated literacy instruction, professional development for classroom teachers, and a bridge to reading and the arts for families.

“We are honored to be recognized by MNN for our partnership with teachers, administrators, music specialists and literacy coaches in the Brockton schools,” said Anne Smith-White, senior director of Community Engagement for the South Shore Conservatory. “For the last eight years, the ImagineARTS program has allowed us to share the joy of active arts participation with the children and teachers of Brockton. We are proud of this program and grateful to our friends and supporters who allow us to provide it for free, year after year. Thanks to MNN for providing a showcase for all the good work that Massachusetts nonprofits do every day.”

The Nonprofit Excellence Award in the Partnership category recognizes the lead organization in an effort by two or more nonprofits that have partnered to address a compelling problem that could not have been solved as effectively by the individual organizations.

In addition to the South Shore Conservatory, Boston-based nonprofits Boston Harbor Now and Tech Goes Home and Watertown-based nonprofit Families First were announced as finalists for the 2020 Nonprofit Excellence Award in the Partnership category.

During the virtual Nonprofit Awareness Day on June 24, Nonprofit Excellence Awards will be presented to one finalist in each of the following six categories: Advocacy, Collaboration, Innovation, Leadership, Small Nonprofit and Young Professional. This year, an independent panel of judges reviewed over 130 nominations for the Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The 27 finalists range from large education providers to small arts organizations, and represent different regions of Massachusetts.

In the weeks leading up to Nonprofit Awareness Day, nonprofits across the state are engaging in a social media campaign with the hashtag #MAkingadifference to raise public awareness of nonprofits’ important contributions to Massachusetts.
