McGRATHPR.com – South Shore Conservatory (SSC) is now enrolling for their fall semester of arts programs at their new Hanover location at Laura’s Center for the Arts at the South Shore YMCA, 97 Mill Street.
The new collaboration between SSC and South Shore YMCA formally begins in September with the start of the fall semester. Group classes, lessons, performances, and community events will be hosted at Laura’s Center in this first semester.
Programs and performances scheduled at this new location include Music Together, Musical Theater, Tot Yoga, Preschool Yoga, SSC Community Voices, Too!, the Parkinson’s Chorus, Coffee Break Concert Series, SSC Memory Café (sponsored by the Middleton Family), and dance classes. Other programs include Creative Arts Therapies presentations such as an Alz Talk, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, called Changes in memory: When to be concerned and what to do about them on October 1, 2019, and a Music and the Brain symposium on March 28, 2020.

South Shore Conservatory, (SSC) has been providing access to and enriching the lives of South Shore residents through music and the arts for almost 50 years. Recognized as a national model for arts education by the National Guild for Community Arts Education, SSC is the largest, not-for-profit, community school for the arts in Massachusetts, serving over 4500 students of all ages and abilities at two beautiful campuses and in partnership with schools, and social service and community agencies throughout the South Shore. Through innovative partnerships, SSC’s Creative Arts Therapies department supports the mental, emotional, and physical health of some of our community’s underserved members, and the ImagineARTS program strengthens pre-reading skills for young learners in Brockton Schools through integrated music and dramatic play.

SSC programs are supported in part by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
