McGRATHPR.com – Renaissance Men (RenMen), New England’s professional male vocal chamber ensemble, stages a live professional album recording at its fifth annual A Very RenMen Christmas gala on Wednesday, December 11, 7 pm, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 258 Concord Street, Newton Lower Falls.
The concert features seasonal classical selections, original compositions, and cherished carols, including Paul John Rudoi’s “Cantate Domino,” Daniel E Gawthrop’s “The Longest Night,” “Angels We Have Heard On High” arranged by composer Saunder Choi, and beloved favorites like “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
Merriment abounds in a festive live recording atmosphere, light bites and refreshments, an opportunity to mingle with the performing artists and a dessert reception featuring Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream and RenMen’s signature homemade eggnog – all the holiday trimmings for a memorable celebration at the most wonderful time of year!
Jeffrey Means, acclaimed recording engineer and Artistic Director of Sound Icon, Boston’s Contemporary Sinfonietta, will capture the performance in preparation for the RenMen’s second full-length album, A Very RenMen Christmas LIVE, due out on Navona Records/PARMA Recordings label next fall (parmarecordings.com).
An exceptional chamber vocal ensemble, Renaissance Men are committed to advancing and invigorating the art of chamber music for tenor, baritone, and bass voices across genres and generations through world-class performance, education, and commissions; within New England and across the United States. In less than five years, Renaissance Men have paved their way into Boston’s cultural landscape through seven widely attended concert series, the launch of their first album RenMen Laments on Navona Records/Naxos Direct, and the performance of several U.S. and world premieres by internationally celebrated composers including Patricia Van Ness and Daniel E. Gawthrop. In 2018, RenMen made their national debut at the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana and in 2019 were featured in Emmanuel Music’s Late Night at Emmanuel series with RenMen On This Island, which highlights music from the British Isles and Ireland. RenMen have performed in every New England state as well as New York and Pennsylvania.
Renaissance Men comprises some of the northeast’s best chamber musicians, conductors, and educators, including founders Eric Christopher Perry (tenor and Artistic Director), Peter Schilling (baritone and Business Manager), Will Prapestis (baritone and Social Media Consultant), and Anthony Burkes Garza (bass and General Manager). RenMen’s 2019 roster also features tenors Fausto Miro, Ethan Bremner, Ethan DePuy, Corey Dalton Hart, and Gene Stenger, baritone Brian Church, and bass Benjamin Pfeil.
Tickets for A Very RenMen Christmas are $40 adults, $30 seniors, $20 students and $10 for children ages 12 and under. Tickets are available at the door.
