‘Singers’ ensemble celebrates PFC’s quarter century milestone performing selections spanning the Chorus’s 500-work repertoire
McGRATHPR.com – Pilgrim Festival Singers, an ensemble of Pilgrim Festival Chorus (PFC), presents its summer concert series “Opus 25: A PFC Journey,” on Saturday, June 21, 7:30 pm, at The Church of the Pilgrimage, 8 Town Square, Plymouth, and on Sunday, June 22, 4 pm, at St. Bonaventure Parish 803 State Road, Plymouth. The concerts are led by Artistic Director William B. Richter, conductor, and Artistic Director Elizabeth Chapman Reilly, piano accompanist.

“Opus 25: A PFC Journey” will include favorites selected from the past 25 years, including contemporary masterpieces, tunes from the Great American Songbook, and a medley from the musical, “Les Misérables.” PFC’s wide-ranging repertoire spans many genres from the classics to music composed within the last few years. This concert will feature Songs of the Spirit (drawn from the American 19th century hymn tradition), Songs of Love (exploring different aspects of romantic love), and Other Times and Places (including Africa, Nova Scotia, Germany, and America during the Civil War). “Les Mis” will highlight talented PFC singers as soloists. It’s a fitting way to close out PFC’s 25th season, and a perfect segue into the next stage of the journey.
Celebrating its 25th anniversary concert season, Pilgrim Festival Chorus, one of the region’s premier, community choral ensembles, has been dedicated to presenting diverse choral works that educate, enrich, and engage both its members and its South Shore audiences. PFC is comprised of approximately 100 members of all adult ages from 20 local communities with skill levels from amateur to professional. In addition to the summer concert, PFC presents a festive holiday concert in early December, an annual Messiah Sing in mid-December, and a spring concert typically featuring a major work with orchestra and soloists. Smaller volunteer groups serve the community by engaging in appearances at local events.
PFC is proud to participate in the Card to Culture Program, a collaboration between Mass Cultural Council and the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, and the Massachusetts Health Connector, by broadening accessibility to cultural programming. This program is supported in part by a grant from Plymouth Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
Tickets for “Opus 25” are $20 for adults. Card to Culture attendees and children aged 14 and under are admitted for free. Tickets are available at pilgrimfestivalchorus.org/tickets, from PFC members, and at the door.
