PATRIOT LEDGER.com – Pilgrim Festival Chorus, a nonprofit community chorus based on the South Shore, will present two performances of “Pilgrim Journey: Songs of Faith and Courage.”
The concerts are in honor of the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower Voyage and the founding of Plymouth Colony.
Co-Artistic Directors William B. Richter and Elizabeth Chapman Reilly will lead the ensemble in the premiere of “Arrived in Good Harbor,” a commissioned work by composer Clifton J. Noble Jr., of Amherst. The work incorporates texts written by William Bradford, the second governor of Plymouth Colony.
Also on the program is Boston composer Alice Parker’s “Melodious Accord,” a collection of “shape note” hymns with instrumental accompaniment. The work reflects the strong faith of the pilgrims.
Concerts are 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 and 4 p.m. Oct. 24 at St. Bonaventure Parish, 803 State Road, Plymouth.
Tickets cost $20 for adults, $18 for senior citizens and $15 for students 14 and older.

Plymouth was founded by the Pilgrims in 1620 and its 400th anniversary fell in 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic forced festivities to be postponed to this year.
