McGRATHPR.com – Pilgrim Festival Chorus (PFC), a Southeastern Massachusetts premier choral ensemble, presents its holiday season program, “Rejoice! Festive Music for the Festive Season,” on Saturday, December 6, 7:30 pm, Sunday, December 7, 3 pm; and Sunday, December 7, 6 pm at The Church of the Pilgrimage, 8 Town Square, Plymouth. The chorus is led by Artistic Directors William B. Richter, conductor, and Elizabeth Chapman Reilly, organ.

In “Rejoice!” Pilgrim Festival Chorus presents two very different sets of carols, both arranged for organ and orchestra. Alice Parker’s joyous “Seven Carols for Christmas,” commissioned by the Robert Shaw Chorale in 1970, includes relatively familiar music, while Shawn Kirchner’s exuberant “Behold New Joy: Ancient Carols for Christmas” (2011) includes Latin carols from the Piae Cantiones of 1582. In addition, the concert centerpiece is Vivaldi’s lesser known (but equally engaging) setting of “Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” composed around 1715.
Pilgrim Festival Chorus (PFC) is a 90-member premier, welcoming community choral ensemble, comprised of experienced vocalists from 20 South Shore communities. Marking its 26th season, the chorus is led by artistic directors William B. Richter and Elizabeth Chapman Reilly. Pilgrim Festival Chorus is dedicated to presenting diverse choral works that educate, enrich, and engage both its members and its audiences.
PFC is proud to participate in the Card to Culture Program, a collaboration between Mass Cultural Council and the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, and the Massachusetts Health Connector, by broadening accessibility to cultural programming. This program is supported in part by a grant from Plymouth Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
Tickets for “Rejoice!” are $25 general, $20 seniors and students over 18. Card to Culture attendees and children aged 18 and under are admitted for free. Tickets are available at pilgrimfestivalchorus.org/tickets. Limited availability at the door.
