McGRATHPR.com – Pembroke writer Elaine Sorrentino announces the release of her first collection of poetry, “Belly Dancing in a Brown Sweatsuit” by Kelsay Books. It is available at Storybook Cove in Hanover, and through Kelsay Books and on Amazon.com.
A Braintree High School graduate, Sorrentino has been Communications Director at South Shore Conservatory (SSC) in Hingham, MA since 1993. Her poetry has appeared online and in print on blogs and in journals such as Minerva Rising, Willawaw Journal, Glass: A Journal of Poetry, Gyroscope Review, Ekphrastic Review, Quartet Journal, Writing in a Woman’s Voice, ONE ART: a journal of poetry, Muddy River Poetry Review, Etched Onyx Magazine, and Haikuniverse. She is facilitator of the Duxbury Poetry Circle at Duxbury Free Library and is an active member of Poetry the Art of Words in Plymouth.
“As a former newspaper reporter for the Hingham Journal and Quincy Sun, and now as Communications Director at SSC, I have always written other people’s stories,” said Sorrentino. “I felt it was time to share my own story in little snapshots. Poetry allows me to do that. Compiling this collection has been a labor of love and a dream come true.”

Sorrentino plans to share her poetry with a number of readings over the next few months. She is a featured poet at Poetry the Art of Words on Sunday, June 8, 1:30 pm, at Plymouth Center for the Arts, 11 North Street, Plymouth.
