CAPE COD TIMES – Songs of love and elegant dress is the recipe for Opera Theater of Cape Cod’s Valentine’s weekend benefit concert gala, “Some Enchanted Evening.” The program, centered around “love and all its variations” will be opera music and musical theater favorites, including work by Verdi, Dvorak and Gounod, as well as Stephen Sondheim (including the “Agony” duet from “Into the Woods”). The program will include the bench scene from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel” as well as the start of romance in Puccini’s “La Bohème.”
Performing artists will include soprano Isabelle Zeledón, mezzo-soprano Eileen Christiansen, tenor Fausto Miro and baritone Thomas Lynch, with Joseph Turbessi as music director and Ethan DePuy as stage director.
Black-tie is encouraged for dress, but is optional. Tickets will include a post-performance reception with champagne and dessert bites.
Proceeds from the performance will fund the company’s summer production of Puccini’s “La bohème.” The chamber opera company debuted last year “on a mission to ignite Cape Cod’s passion for opera.”
