Spring tour features ballads and upbeat a cappella favorites
McGRATHPR.com – Friends in Song a cappella vocal ensemble presents Light Your Way Home: Illuminating Songs of Inspiration and Hope, a South Shore touring concert series with performances in Scituate, Plympton and Marshfield. The ensemble is directed by William B. Richter.
Light Your Way Home features a collection of illuminating songs sung from the heart, performed to uplift listeners and inspire hope a strife filled world. Repertoire is diverse in genre, united by the ever-present light of encouragement found in lyrics crafted by composers that instill comfort and peace in audiences and singers alike. The eclectic collection of ballads, spirituals, musical theater and contemporary a cappella selections includes “Sure on This Shining Night” by Morten Lauridsen, “The Seal Lullaby” by Eric Whitacre, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, “One Voice” by The Wailin’ Jennys, George Wu’s arrangement of “Imagine” by John Lennon performed by Pentatonix, “Hope” by Ysaye Barnwell, “Seasons of Love” from the musical RENT by Jonathan Larson, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow/I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz, arranged by Dan Ponce for Straight No Chaser and more.
Friends in Song is an ensemble of 16 vocalists, many professional musicians, who have performed together in friendship and harmony for nine years. The group is recognized across the region for their tightly woven harmonies and joyous concerts. Singers from the South Shore and Cape Cod include Diana Barnes, Larry Carlson, Caroline Chapin, Carol Cybulska, Brian Dudley, Todd Herrmann, Lynne Hare, Chris Holl, Kate Holl, Sara Kieran, Anne Jones, Dan Miot, Michelle McGrath, Music Director William B. Richter, Nathaniel Sides and Sally Tucker.
