McGRATHPR.com – Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra (CCCO), the Cape’s professional collaborative orchestra, presents the concert “Sustaining Sounds”, on Sunday, November 21, 3 pm, at Yarmouth New Church Preservation, 266 Main St., 6A, Yarmouth Port.  The orchestra is conducted by Founding Music Director Matthew Scinto.

CCCO’s second performance of its fourth season offers a collection of music for strings, featuring selections by Caroline Shaw, in a program about sustainability on Cape Cod.  “Our orchestra looks forward to returning to  New Church, a very gracious host during our last year of our virtual programs. We’ll explore more music composed for string orchestra and discuss issues surrounding sustainability and environmental protection on Cape Cod,” says Scinto.

Yarmouth New Church Preservation Foundation is a non-religious, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the historically registered former church on Yarmouth Port common as a vibrant cultural center for public benefit and use, recognized as one of the best venues for the performance of live music on Cape Cod.

On the program, CCCO performs Barber’s “Adagio for Strings”, Tchaikovsky’s thrilling “Serenade for Strings”, and “Entr’acte” by Caroline Shaw. On her work, Shaw writes: “Entr’acte was written in 2011 after hearing the Brentano Quartet play Haydn’s Op. 77 No. 2 – with their spare and soulful shift to the D-flat major trio in the minuet. It is structured like a minuet and trio, riffing on that classical form but taking it a little further. I love the way some music suddenly takes you to the other side of Alice’s looking glass, in a kind of absurd, subtle, technicolor transition.”

Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra prides itself on exceptional programming and its collaborative performances, a highlight of every season.  Committed to artistic integrity and excellence, CCCO’s mission is to connect the diverse arts communities and individuals of Cape Cod inclusively. By collaborating with other disciplines of art and culture, the Orchestra aims to create unique concert experiences while providing exciting, enriching and memorable orchestral music.  Spotlighting living composers is at the forefront of the orchestra’s mission; bringing audiences closer to the music of modern time, positioned as an essential and educational element to each performance program.  Other repertoire emphasize the championing of works of living composers, as well as the music of the classical canon.

Tickets to “Sustaining Sounds” are $35 general admission, children and students attend for free.  Regarding CCCO’s Covid-19 policy, masks will be required by all audience members at all times. In order to allow for adequate social distancing, tickets for this event will be limited.  Tickets to all Season Four performances are available at capecodchamberorchestra.org, by calling 508-432-1668, or at each venue door by cash or credit card.

A preview of this program’s music performs on Saturday, November 20, 4 pm, at Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center, presented by the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society. More information and tickets will be available on November 1 at mvcms.org.
