McGRATHPR.com – Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra (CCCO), the Cape’s professional collaborative orchestra, continues performances of its new Sandbar Chamber Series with “Music for Winds,” a chamber ensemble concert, on Sunday, January 29, 3 pm, at Yarmouth New Church’s Thacher Hall, 266 Main St., Yarmouth Port.
“We look forward to our second chamber series concert and are excited to return to the New Church once more this season,” shares CCCO Music Director Matthew Scinto. A facet of CCCO’s Season Five, its Sandbar Chamber Series, new this season, features new soloists, new music and hallmark performances in multiple venues around Cape Cod.
The Sandbar Chamber Series’ second concert features CCCO woodwind and string artists performing the music of Jacques Ibert, W.A. Mozart, Ernst Dohnanyi, and Jose Elizondo. “This program for winds and strings was curated to showcase music new and old for various types of ensembles, performing Mozart’s charming oboe quartet featuring our Mary O’Keefe, our principal oboe, and a work scored for violin and cello duo by Boston-based composer José Elizondo, titled ‘Danzas Latinoamericanas’. We’ll demonstrate the broad diversity of our chamber ensemble and spotlight the wonderfully talented individuals that comprise Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra,” says Scinto.
Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra prides itself on exceptional programming and its collaborative performances, a highlight of every season. Season Five features four full-orchestra main concerts and three small ensemble performances offered by the Sandbar Chamber Series.

Tickets to “Music for Winds” are $35, students and children are admitted for free. Please note that there is currently no wheelchair access to Thacher Hall. On-street parking is available around Yarmouth Port town green, at the post office, and at Chapter House on Rte. 6A.

About Dr. Matthew Scinto, Conductor
Matthew Scinto is an emerging conductor based in Cape Cod, where he currently serves as Founder and Music Director of the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra and Visiting Director of Orchestra at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has twice studied conducting at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center, was recently finalist for the Assistant Conductor of the San Antonio Symphony, and currently serves as a cover conductor for the Portland (ME) Symphony. He received his Doctor of Musical Art’s degree from Boston University, where he received the Conducting Department Award for Excellence in Conducting. Dr. Scinto has been involved in Alzheimer’s care for the past several years, working with memory care facilities at Maplewood Senior Living in Brewster, MA and Bridges in Mashpee, MA. He is also a frequent guest of the Arts & Ideas program with the Alzheimer’s Family Support Center of Cape Cod for caregivers and loved ones with memory loss. By using aspects of music appreciation and conducting, Dr. Scinto has developed curriculum for working with individuals dealing with memory loss, in order to allow them to reconnect to their loved ones and enjoy fun movement to music. In addition to conducting, Dr. Scinto has been teaching private piano, violin, and viola lessons for over a decade, currently at Steeple St. Music Academy in Mashpee, MA.
