Slated as a “fast-moving, powerful theatrical locomotive” by the Hartford Courant, Americana Theatre’s production of this classic thriller is bound to scintillate your summer. Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks, as it travels from Istanbul to Western Europe. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for occupancy in 1934, but by the next morning, it has one fewer passenger. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer – in case he or she decides to strike again.
“We’re energized to thrill our audiences with one of the sharpest, funniest, intriguing, and popular Agatha Christie stories scripted for the stage,” shares Derek Martin, show director and ATC founder. “Ken Ludwig has outdone himself with his fast-paced adaptation. We’re sure our summer audiences will be captivated by another story that entertains and matters, performed by another fantastic Americana cast.”
“Murder on the Orient Express” features Jesse M. Sullivan as the indomitable detective Hercule Poirot, David Friday as M. Bouc, Erin Friday as Princess Dragomiroff, Derek Grant Martin as Colonel Arbuthnot, Payton Gobeille as the Countess Andrenyi, Aubrey Elson as Mary Debenham, Abby Kramer as Greta Ohlsson, Wade Dunham as Hector MacQueen, Nick Hancock as Samuel Ratchett, Stephanie Wells as Helen Hubbard, Zach Cherry as Michel the Conductor, Brendan Hone as the Head Waiter, and Arianna Barbosa as the Nanny.
“Murder on the Orient Express” tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for students and seniors. Spire Center for Performing Arts is fully accessible, and paid public parking is available streetside and in nearby public lots.
