Comedic spoof of the most celebrated Sherlock Holmes story in Plymouth
McGRATHPR.com – Americana Theatre Company (ATC), Plymouth’s professional theatre company, presents the comedic spoof The Hound of the Baskervilles, on select dates from July 20 through 28, at Spire Center for Performing Arts, 25 ½ Court Street, Plymouth. The Hound of the Baskervilles is written by Marc Camoletti, Beverley Cross and Francis Evans. The production is directed by Brance Cornelius, with stage management by Robin Lillie, assistant stage management by Caitlin Skinner and costumes by Brian Kenerson.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most celebrated Sherlock Holmes story gets a gloriously funny makeover in this ‘wonderfully barking spoof’ (Daily Telegraph) with a cast of three actors playing multiple roles.
When Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead on his estate, with a look of terror still etched on his face, and the paw prints of a gigantic hound beside his body, the great detective Sherlock Holmes is summoned from Baker Street, with Dr. Watson in tow, to unravel the mysteries surrounding his death, and investigate the ancient curse of the Hound of the Baskervilles.
“I feel as if I have hit the trifecta – securing three brilliantly lucent actors, all of whom I’ve been privileged to work with before – to help create this hilarious take on one of Britain’s greatest horror stories,” shares Director Brance Cornelius.
The Hound of the Baskervilles features guest performing artist Andy Geffkin in the role of “Sherlock”, and company member actors Derek Martin as “Sir Henry” and David Friday as “Dr. Watson”.
“My experiences working with Americana are some of the fondest memories I have creating theatre,” shares Geffken, who helped originate ATC dating back to 2011. “From the atmosphere of rehearsals to the pride we take in the finished product; we know that the final production is artistically better than the typical offering, including a higher caliber of actors than audiences are accustomed to seeing outside a major city. These are the projects actors crave.”
Tickets for The Hound of the Baskervilles are $35 adults, $30 for students and seniors. Evening performances begin at 7 pm or 8 pm, Sunday matinees are held at 2 pm. Discount season packages are also available, including tickets to Boeing Boeing, The Hound of the Baskervilles, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play and an invitation to the holiday season opening night gala.
