Musical theater might be said to have been invented in our country, and, in the last hundred years there have been countless productions, many of which focused on American life. Considering the wide range of choice, PFC has selected an “American Vignettes” program of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!”, Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man”, and Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story”. And, in honor of the late Stephen Sondheim’s immense contribution to musical theater, we’ll perform a special tribute “Sondheim! A Choral Celebration”, which includes many of his best-known songs. Audiences will revel in the songs “Oklahoma,” “76 Trombones,” “Till There Was You,” “Maria,” “There’s a Place for Us,” “Comedy Tonight,” and “Send in the Clowns,” as well as many others.
