PATRIOT LEDGER.com – The South Shore Conservatory will present the fifth annual Mad Love Music Festival festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m Oct. 13 in the Jane Carr Amphitheater, 1 Conservatory Drive, Hingham.
The lineup of performing artists is Toast, Quadrafunk, Dionysia, Dalton & the Sheriffs, SixFoxWhiskey and The Aldous Collins Band.
The Mad Love Music Festival was established in 2014 after Dave Jodka, a father and musician, died of cancer at age 44. The festival was founded to celebrate Jodka’s life and create a legacy to share his love of music and inspire future generations of musicians through rock and roll. Featuring local musicians, food, drink and activities for the whole family, Mad Love Music Festival has evolved into an annual tradition to raise money to sponsor a scholarship for young rockers.
“It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years of the Mad Love Music Festival,” said Kathleen Jodka, founder. “The amount of love, music, learning, community, gratitude and good times that have grown from grief has exceeded our wildest dreams. We are humbled by our supportive community, proud of the musicians we’ve fostered and inspired by the ‘mad love’ that continues to grow each and every year.”
The money raised at the festival goes toward South Shore Conservatory’s Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers, which funds the band, Toast. The scholarship, which is open to high school students on the South Shore, covers all expenses associated with performing in the band. The scholarship also pays for a coach and other professionals who help the students develop as a band. Over the years, the band Toast has evolved to create their own vibe and sound. Past band members of Toast have gone onto to pursue their music at Berklee College of Music and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, among others.
This year’s festival includes beer and food trucks from Hank’s Clam Shack, Wahlburgers, Moyzilla, CP’s Woodfired Pizza, Seabird Coffee, Nona’s Homemade Ice Cream and Sadie Mae’s Cupcake Café.
Tickets to Mad Love Music Festival are $35 for adults, $20 for students and $10 for children. VIP tickets are also available for $100 in addition to a $50 virtual rocker ticket for fans to support Mad Love, even if they are unable to attend.
