THE ENTERPRISE – Brought back for the third time by popular demand, the 30-piece New England Brass Band will perform on the Glass Town Stage at the historic town hall in Sandwich on Saturday, December 9, at 7 PM as part of the Village Concert Series made possible by the Sandwich Arts Alliance. Tickets are $25 for general admission and are available at the new Sandwich Arts Alliance Center at historic town hall, 130 Main Street. Tickets can also be purchased through the alliance’s website.
This year the band will feature holiday classics for all ages, including “Christmas Joy March,” “Christmas Fantasy,” “I Wonder as I Wander,” “Shining Star March,” Russian Christmas music, “Mary’s Boy Child,” “The Carolers March,” “Proclamation of Christmas,” “Sweet Chiming Bells,” “Polar Express,” “Yule Dance,” “The Christmas Song,” “Sleigh Ride” and “We Wish you a Merry Christmas.”

If you’ve never experienced the special sound of this band, you are in for both a surprise and a treat,” Sandwich Arts Alliance performing arts director Melinda Gallant said. “This event will surely get you into the holiday spirit.”
Featured on WGBH and described as “British music from the time of Downton Abbey,” the New England Brass Band appeals to a wide cross section of music lovers. Founded in 1988, the brass and percussion ensemble adheres to the instrumentation of the British brass band tradition, which has its roots in the social betterment of the working classes in early 19th-century England.
Based in Boston but with members from every New England state, the New England Brass Band has played for audiences across the Northeast and has won first place for several years at the North American Brass Band Association National Championship. Since its 2008 season, the group has been guided by Stephen Bulla, who for 30 years served as chief arranger for the president’s own US Marine Band and White House Orchestra, where he was responsible for the production of ceremonial and entertainment music for administrations from that of Ronald Reagan through 2010.
