Summer performance tour features ballads and upbeat a cappella favorites
McGRATHPR.com – Friends in Song a cappella vocal ensemble presents “Unclouded Day,” a touring concert series with performances in Plymouth, Sandwich and Scituate. The ensemble is directed by William B. Richter.
“Unclouded Day” features a program of uplifting songs performed to inspire renewal in the wake of a pandemic-clouded year, stirring audiences and singers alike. Repertoire is diverse in genre, united by a “cloudless skies” mindset, conveyed through inspirational lyrics. Much of the music is rooted in eminent poetry and scribings penned by an eclectic collection of composers and arrangers. Ballads, spirituals, pop and contemporary a cappella selections includes “I Carry Your Heart” by Connor Koppin, with lyrics from E.E. Cummings poetry, “Grace Before Sleep” by Susan LaBarr with lyrics from the poetry of Sara Teasdale, “You Are the Reason” arranged by Mac Huff, with lyrics and music by Calum Scott, Corey Sanders and Jonathan Maguire, “Fire and Rain,” a Deke Sharon arrangement of the famous James Taylor tune, “My Companion” by Elaine Hagenberg centered in lyrics by Edith Franklin Wyatt, “That Which Remains” by Andrea Ramsey and text by Helen Keller and more.
Friends in Song is an ensemble of 15 vocalists, many professional musicians, who have performed together in friendship and harmony for eleven years. The group is recognized across the region for their tightly woven harmonies and joyous concerts. Singers from the South Shore and Cape Cod include Diana Barnes, Larry Carlson, Caroline Chapin, Brian Dudley, Todd Herrmann, Lynne Hare, Chris Holl, Kate Holl, Anne Jones, Dan Miot, Michelle McGrath, Music Director William B.
