Mystery and music, a barn and a blonde: 5 fun things to do on the South Shore this weekend

THE PATRIOT LEDGER – The party doesn’t have to end with fireworks on the Fourth.

The South Shore’s lineup of things to do this weekend offers as much variety as ever, and this time on a larger scale.

The Levitate Music and Arts Festival returns to the Marshfield Fairgrounds for three days of indie music and ’90s alternative music favorites with this year’s headliner, Sublime.

If outdoor rock isn’t your thing, head down to Plymouth for live performances of the mystery classic “Murder on the Orient Express” at The Spire Center downtown.

Looking for something a little lighter to take in while visiting America’s Hometown? Check out a live musical version of “Legally Blonde” at Priscilla Beach Theatre in Manomet.

Other ways to enjoy the weekend include a free concert in Quincy featuring a selection of patriotic classics and an open day at Hingham’s Weir River Farm.

With so much to do, there’s no reason to stay home this weekend.

Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks as it travels from Istanbul to Western Europe. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for occupancy in 1934, but it has one fewer passenger by the next morning. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer.
