McGRATHPR.com – Rockland resident and first-time author William F. Carter debuts his new release suspense crime thriller novel “Fire & Wrath,” on Friday, July 19, celebrated with an advance book signing on Saturday, July 13, 1 to 3 pm, at Barnes & Noble at Hingham’s Derby Street Shoppes, 96 Derby Street, Suite 300.  The author’s debut title, published through Austin Macauley Publishers, is now available for preorder at Amazon and Barnes & Noble online.

“Carter brings a literary sensibility and an emotional depth to this fast paced, memorable thriller,” says Chris Mooney, author of New York Times’ bestselling titles “Walk in My Combat Boot” and “Bloodworld.”

In “Fire & Wrath,” Carter explores the story of Jack Coyle, arsonist extraordinaire.  “The allure of fire intoxicates him, yet time and again, it has been his nemesis,” shares Carter.  “Landing in juvenile prison in his teen years has him set on a life on the run from both the police and criminal underworld.”  With a fictional plot situated locally in Plymouth County, Carter introduces character Sherriff Vance Miller as Jack’s childhood friend. The storyline is built in Vance’s growing problems – six unsolved arsons, six houses torched, six families tragically wiped out. “Frustrated law enforcement and a fearful public are clamoring for answers. Vance knows of Coyle’s sordid profession and figures, who better to help investigate a series of complex arsons than an arsonist?”

Carter’s protagonist, a lonely, hardened criminal, has extensively studied the science of arson investigation and is a master of his craft. His knowledge of fire, explosives, dead-man switches, remote detonators, and the intricacies of electrical wiring knows no bounds – skills that serve him well as he and Vance aspire to discover the truth.

“This is the culmination of many years of hard work and perseverance.  It’s amazing to finally be published,” shares Carter. “I want this to be an example to my two daughters to never give up on your dreams.”

Situated in Rockland with his family, William “Bill” Carter has been a writer since childhood, earning a Master of Arts in Creative Writing degree from Harvard University.  He also serves as guitarist for a local rock band, and often participates in community theatre, a true cultural creative.  Previously a resident of Plymouth as a teenager, he is thrilled to set his first novel in the very town that made a huge impact in his formative years.

“You’re on an emotional roller coaster to the very end. I encourage everyone who enjoys mystery and intrigue to read ‘Fire & Wrath.’ Action and suspense, coupled with many twists and turns, keep you thoroughly engaged with the investigation,” shares Linda Besser, a textbook author and reviewer with Reedsy Discovery, in an advance review.
