OLD COLONY MEMORIAL – Creative Seeds Studio, a new resource offering engaging online music and drama classes for families with children ages 0-8 founded by Plymouth resident Su D’Ambrosio, will launch on May 3.

Free demo classes will be offered on April 27 and May 1. Register to participate at https://creativeseedsstudio.com/full-studio-schedule.

In Creative Seeds Studio’s classes, young children explore and learn about music through singing, movement, rhythm play, stories and theatrical play. Each theme-focused session introduces music literacy and pre-reading skills by exploring rhyming, patterning and selected picture books. Drama classes focus on spatial awareness, vocal expression and character development through fun games and imaginative play, and culminate with an online presentation of a story, complete with costumes and props from home. In family classes, the vital role of parents and families is recognized in cultivating their children’s “creative seeds.” Parents and caregivers are given tools and tips to utilize the creative process at home to integrate into their daily lives.

Class offerings are as follows:

Creative Seeds: Ages 0-4. This music class for students with a caregiver features songs, stories and activities designed to plant the seeds of basic music competence. Connect with the child and learn how to incorporate music and movement activities at home.

Discovering Music: Ages 4-6. Designed to develop basic music competence skills, this class lays a strong foundation for future music study. Students take the learning to the next level as they strengthen their basic music skills through singing, moving, listening and homemade instrument play.

Discovering Drama: Ages 4-6. These drama classes combine teacher-directed activities with opportunities for students to make their own creative choices. Children develop speaking, listening and social skills through structured dramatic play. These classes culminate with a family sharing of a short play based on a familiar storybook.

Music FUNdamentals: Ages 6-8. These classes are focused on developing music literacy and setting the foundation for learning to play an instrument. Music FUNdamentals is perfect for students who love to sing, move and create their own songs.

Rhythm FUNdamentals: Ages 6-8. Rhythm FUNdamentals focuses on percussion instrument play and understanding rhythm patterns. Students learn basic music concepts and skills through learning to play a variety of homemade percussion instruments. No special equipment required.

Groups and Pods: Groups and pods can add a music or drama class tailored to their age, size, and curriculum. Choose a day and time.

Ten-week sessions of 45-minute classes are offered online via Zoom. Groups receive special rates and siblings are eligible for discounts.
