McGRATHPR.com – Cape Cod Cranberry Association’s launches its debut Celebrity Chef Spotlight Cranberry Challenge in 2021, designed to highlight cranberries as a versatile, healthy ingredient in original or adapted recipes that serve professional chef’s menus and the family table of home cooks. In a year where the state’s restaurant industry has suffered deeply due to the pandemic, the Association aspires to help by highlighting the talented pool of chefs across the Commonwealth, and the restaurants that fuel their spirit.

Recipes may span any course from appetizers, beverages, dinner or dessert, limited to two recipes per applicant. The top five approved recipes, as selected by CCCGA’s test kitchen, will be announced by email notification and on social media platforms on June 28, 2021. The use of fresh cranberries as a star ingredient is strongly encouraged. In addition, the cranberry can be incorporated in any form, and in multiple techniques at the chef’s discretion, originating from fresh berries, sweetened dried cranberries, cranberry juice or sauce. The types of cuisine and preparation methods are flexible at the chef’s discretion. It is advised that the instructions be concise and home-cook friendly, as one attribute of the Challenge is to inspire increased consumer cranberry consumption and cooking.

Recipes must include complete step-by-step directions and standardized measurements for preparation, including times, temperatures, etc., and follow the formatting guide provided on the submission form. The submission of photos and photographer credit during your recipe development process are encouraged, from images of the cranberry ingredient through the preparation and cooking process and the finished product. (Note: Images for the top five selected recipes will be created during the test kitchen process for media use.)

Professional chef applicants are encouraged to submit their original or adapted cranberry-centered recipes that will be tasted in a judging test kitchen, yielding the top five recipes, as selected by CCCGA. The top five applicants receive a custom chef profile feature story, media coverage, and visibility and support for their restaurant of business on CCCGA’s social media platforms and website as well as a special prize TBA.

This initiative is presented in the celebration of October as Massachusetts’ official Cranberry Month.
