The Academy of The Company Theatre (A.C.T.) presents a youth production of Willy Wonka Jr., on Friday, November 3, 7 pm, Saturday, November 4, 4 pm and 7 pm, and Sunday, November 5, 1 pm and 4pm at The Company Theatre Center for Performing Arts, 30 Accord Park Drive, Norwell. Willy Wonka Jr.’s words and music are by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, was adapted for the stage by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy A. McDonald, and is based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. The production’s artistic team includes Director/Musical Director Melissa Carubia, Assistant Director/Costume Designer James Valentin, Choreographers Cynthia Krebs and John Crampton and Set Designer Ryan Barrow.
The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory lights up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder and new songs by Leslie Bricusse (Jekyll & Hyde, Doctor Dolittle) and Anthony Newley, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr. is a ‘scrumdidilyumptious’ musical guaranteed to delight everyone’s sweet tooth.
A.C.T. was founded in 1987 by Zoe Bradford, Michael Joseph and Jordie Saucerman, with a mission to discover the creative spirit in each child in an enjoyable and challenging atmosphere and to build self-confidence through the experience of the arts.
