SSC Announces 2017 Duxbury Music Festival Schedule

South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) presents its twelfth season of exciting DMF faculty and student performances, and family-friendly events at venues including SSC’s Ellison Center for the Arts, Bayside Tent, Duxbury Town Green and private seaside homes from July 14 through July 28.

New this year, DMF debuts its new Festival Opening Weekend format, kicking off the Festival with two performances under a tent at a breathtaking seaside location at the end of Freeman Place in Duxbury. Friday night, July 14 features Blues on the Bay Cabaret Concert with signature cocktails and nibbles served in a cabaret-style seated format.  Sunday evening’s Overture Concert on July 16 features chamber music, including performances by 2016 DMF Competition winners.

An exciting highlight this season is the return of founding DMF faculty member and famed pianist Oxana Yablonskaya, a world-renowned instructor from Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem. Audience members can look forward to hearing her perform on July 18 as she headlines an all-Rachmaninoff concert at SSC’s Ellison Center for the Arts.

In addition to multiple opportunities to enjoy the very finest chamber music on the South Shore, performed by world-class musicians, DMF 2017 events include music to suit everyone’s tastes, including reggae, blues, and jazz. Special Duxbury Town Green events include Reggae on the Green on Friday, July 21, Rhythm & Blues on the Green Dinner Dance on Saturday, July 22, Family Fest on Sunday, July 23 at 10 am, and Sunday in the Park on July 23 at 5 pm.

Widely embraced by the South Shore community, Duxbury Music Festival is a celebrated program for outstanding solo and chamber instrumental musicians.  It boasts over 200 volunteers and more than 2500 patrons each season, unrivaled in all of New England. The intensive chamber music program brings together world-renowned pedagogues, performers and aspiring young artists each summer, providing daily offerings of chamber music, student recitals, festival competitions, community-friendly family events, and faculty concerts. In keeping with SSC’s inclusive mission to provide access to exceptional arts education and performance…for individuals of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, DMF presents programs for all segments of the population to enjoy.
